Our theme this week for Pink Saturday is our favorite holiday song. This was really easy for me since I've had the same favorite song since I was a little girl. My father used to sing O Holy Night in church when I was a young. He sounded so much like Perry Como if you closed your eyes you might not be able to tell them apart. Even though listening to this song usually makes the tears flow it brings back wonderful memories I will always cherish. After your parents have passed away your memories become even more precious.
Please turn off my music player at the bottom before watching the video.
I found these old photos the other day...thought you might get a kick out of them!
My sister Karyn (left) and I with our new Tiny Tears dolls!
Look at those roller skates! Boy have they improved over the years!
Karyn, Gene (family friend) and me.
This is hilarious! How come he got a bigger doll than we did? LOL He's really loving it too isn't he?
I'm wondering where my parents found these hilarious Christmas trees!
I'm sharing another video of a very beautiful Christmas song written and sung by Barry Manilow. Enjoy!
Thanks so much for your visit today. I hope you enjoyed my little walk down memory lane and the music I chose! Thank you to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for our fun Pink Saturday.
OMG, these pictures are AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteYou and my mom are so damn cute. I love the one with grandpa in it. Okay and that's hilarious that you asked why Gene has a bigger doll.

Dear Denise,
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas...I really enjoyed looking at your pictures. I clicked on them to see all the details...you are so lucky to still have them to look back on. Thank you for sharing them as they touched my Christmas spirit...
Your pictures from when you where little are priceless-I really enjoyed seeing them!
ReplyDeleteHow fun seeing your pictures. If you look at my childhood pictures, they would be similiar. I loved dolls and took mine everyplace but school and church. Even now when family and friends talk about the past they always say "you're that one who always carried the doll aren't are you?" Yep, that was me.
ReplyDeleteThe picture with Gene was hilarious!
What a great post! Thank you for sharing your pictures. I have one of my mom and aunt with those same little Tiny Tears dolls at Christmas! They were about 5 and 2.

Happy Pink Saturday and Happy Holidays to you and your family, Denise.
ReplyDeleteChristmas songs always make me weepy. I miss my father even more during the holidays, but my memories are treasures.
I love your photos. What fun! I had a Tiny Tears, too, but mine didn't have hair. And, are those Ginny dolls you are holding in one of the photos?
oh how that brings back memories! I had a tiny tears too! and a pink robe like yours! Loved the pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love all your photos!! I can spend hours upon hours looking through old photos. I'm loving how Gene is loving his doll. My husband had a bride doll when he was growing up in Russia. I love looking through his Old photos as well. Thank you for sharing!

Denise, your post is just darling. I loved the photos of you and your sister. And your friend with the big doll is a hoot. Smile. I wish I could have heard your dad sing Oh Holy Night. I'll pretend it is him and not Perry singing.
ReplyDeleteWishing you blessings and the joys of Christmas.
Hugs, Jeanne
That was just lovely. So many smiling faces. I think I had a Tiny Tears too and love Barry Manilow. Happy Pink Saturday.

I'm a new follower from Pink Saturday - I adore your blog Denise! So pretty and pink! I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou are so true about memories of Christmas past being so much more precious after you lose your parents. I was on the phone with my sister in Pennsylvania yesterday asking her to send me some old Christmas photos if she could (she is HORRIBLY computer illiterate and cannot operate her scanner though LOL) and listening to the songs I selected for my playlist for today - we started talking about how the holidays were with Mom and I just broke down in tears as the memories washed over me.
Thank you so much for your share today!
I love it!! Another Barry fan!!! Your photos are priceless!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy PS!

ReplyDeleteWhat perfect and beautiful pictuers. Someone must have been a great photographer. I can't believe the tinsel on the tree, that is the most incredible tinsel application I have ever seen. Our tree was never complete until the tinsel went on, but my parents let us help so it was never great! Love your song choice too. Happy Pink Saturday and thanks for your visit during this busy time of year. Hugs!
