I was a very lucky girl to have such a wonderful father in my life with such an amazing sense of humor! Never a dull moment in our house! He was blessed with a beautiful voice, and the gift of playing piano by ear! My fondest memory was when he sang 'O Holy Night' in church at Christmas. Makes me cry just thinking about it. He could draw anything you described to him which is what led him to become a builder of beautiful homes. I was lucky enough to grow up in the very first house he built! He had a very BIG green thumb and always took pride in his garden. Unfortunately I didn't inherit his musical talents or his ability to draw but I do love to be in the garden and I love to work with wood. The smell of a newly framed house always reminds me of him. He gave me one of the most important gifts his sense of humor and for that I am grateful! But most of all he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who is truly missed! Happy Father's Day Daddy!

Hi Denise!
ReplyDeleteYou give me goosebumps reading about your dear and very handsome Daddy! I know you miss him so much and you were truly blessed to have been raised by such a wonderful man that gave you so many happy memories to think about whenever you miss him.
My grandfather was a builder also and made furniture and all kinds of things. He had all the fancy schmancy tools in their basement and the smell of fresh cut wood reminds me of him too!! Isn't that a great smell!!
Enjoy a nice Fathers Day with all the men in your life Denise!!!
Hugs and Smiles,
Lynn
I just love that photo. The bird on your head is hilarious and you and my mom are so adorable!
ReplyDeleteGrandpa was so young here, I love it.
I could just die that I didn't notice the bird on my head in that picture! LOL
